Aisling Forkin
Founder & teacher at ONE Yoga and Pilates
Following extensive training in Miami, Aisling qualified as a yoga instructor in 2001 and has since continued her studies around the world, most notably with the guru of Ashtanga Yoga, Sri K Parrahbi Jois. Committed to finding and practicing both traditional and contemporary yoga methods, Aisling regularly travels abroad to work and train with the best teachers in India, USA, Spain, Italy and Thailand. Yoga found Aisling while she was working as a manager with a global telecommunications company. Leaving her hectic sales career behind, yoga brought a new sense of priority and balance, not to mention a fitness level Aisling hadn’t realised possible. Taking this to another level, she has since extended her repertoire to include Pilates, undertaking training in its core disciplines and incorporating Pilates techniques into her already popular Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga
classes, which she has been teaching to groups, corporations, sports players, teams and individuals since 2001. “Blending Pilates into my classes has been invaluable. The natural symetry of these two disciplines offers incredible results and can enable the body to be kept in a young, healthy, supple and energised condition”.
Aisling was blessed to become a mother in 2009 and believes that regular yoga practice was of huge benefit both during and after her pregnancy and also helped her prepare for those initial sleepless nights! Aisling knows first hand how important it is to practice specific pilates positions following a pregnancy to strengthen your core and back.
With ONE Yoga and Pilates, Aisling aims to bring the best possible methods and practices together to achieve optimum results for all participants. Her ONE-ON-ONE sessions and group classes cater for everyone from beginners and professionals, sports people and teams, to expectant mothers.
Aisling continues to teach pure Pilates classes, Yoga classes and Ashtanga Yoga/Pilates Blend classes.
Ian McKeever
Ian McKeever is a respected Communications lecturer, Adventurer, broadcaster and life coach.
His approach to physical fitness begins with our mental fortitude; what we do and why we do it and understanding and appreciating the motivations behind our actual behaviour.
Mc Keever believes that unless we properly understand what drives us we will never optimise performance and reach our potential.
Author of two books, ('Give me Shelter' + 'Give me Heroes' see www.givemeheroes.ie) with a 3ed to follow, (Give me 28 days), he has recently taken on a series of extremely difficult physical challenges over a 5 year period.
Challenges on mountains, at sea and on land in the hope of proving what is actually possible through properly channelled belief, motivation and the right preparation regardless of age or a person's background in life.....
- In 2007 he broke the World Record for the ‘Seven Summits Challenge’ by climbing each of the Continent’s highest peaks in a time of 155 days.
- In 2008 despite the ‘perceived odds; against success, he trained and guided his 10 year ld Godson to the summit of Kilimanjaro
- In 2009 he prepared and provided a similar training regime for 62 people of varying fitness levels across Ireland all of whom summated Kilimanjaro I summer 2009
- In 2009 he was part of a team that attempted to row the South Atlantic Ocean in a new world record time and go under 30 days
- In 2010 having now turned 40, he turns his attention to ‘dry’ land and a shot at Eamonn Coughlan’s outstanding 4 minute mile record… He begins by going under 5 minutes on June 29th in the company of a 12 year old Jack Savage and a 50 year old John Baldwin. Each will diary their preparation/their highs and respective lows. Each will contribute to a study on the links between optimism and performance in our daily lives…
